Cost Effective Home Building: A Design and Construction Handbook

Builders will learn cost-effective methods of home building with a systematic approach to design and construction. Specific techniques based on familiar and available building materials and labor skills that contribute to the production of safe, durable, and economical homes are presented. The strength and span table for each species of lumber is revised to reflect the changes in the 1991 National Design Specification. Alternatives to lumber and plywood and stemwall and frost-protected shallow foundations are also discussed.
