Home Innovation Research Labs Recognizes 2019 NGBS Green Partners of Excellence

Builders, Verifiers Applauded for Helping Promote Third-Party Certified, High-Performance, Green Building

Today, Home Innovation Research Labs recognized 60 NGBS Green Partners for outstanding contributions to advancing green building in their communities and commitment to voluntary, market-driven, third-party certification of high-performance homes. In celebration of the recent release of the 2020 National Green Building Standard (NGBS), the latest version of the standard upon which Home Innovation’s national certification program is based, there were 20 individuals or companies recognized in each of three categories – NGBS Green Verifiers; Single-Family Builders/Developers; and Multifamily Builders/Developers.

2019 NGBS Green Partner of Excellence

“We made our list, checked in twice, checked it a few more times, then whittled it down to the 20 most exceptional representatives nationwide for each category,” said Michelle Foster, Home Innovation’s Vice President, Sustainability. “This was not an easy task, as we have scores of great candidates for recognition throughout our program. But we feel those we recognized this year are truly the best of the best. These are the people and companies who are influencing how green buildings are designed and constructed today, and who are helping shape how they should be built in the future.”

In recognition of their sustained excellence as NGBS Green Partners, leadership in the field, and unwavering commitment to high-performance homes and multifamily buildings, below are the 2019 NGBS Green Partners of Excellence:

Single-Family Builders & Developers

Multifamily Builders & Developers

Accredited NGBS Green Verifiers

Having just celebrated the first 10 years of NGBS Green Certification, Home Innovation acknowledges that the expertise and dedication of these Partners has made NGBS Green a better program and has been a significant factor in its ongoing growth and success. Highlights of just the past year include reaching (and surpassing) 200,000 NGBS Green Certified homes; having an all-time high in the certification pipeline of registered projects (more than 5,300 single-family homes and 144,000 apartments in process); seeing significant growth in the number of affordable homes becoming NGBS Green Certified and QAPs in which the NGBS is recognized or incentivized; and expansion in both the regions (including U.S.V.I. and Puerto Rico) and the types of buildings (including commercial space in mixed use building) the certification program can serve.
