NGBS Green Certification Recognized Under FHA’s New Green MIP Reductions for Residential Care Facilities

Earlier this month, as published in the May 19th Federal Register, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) announced its intent to implement significant reductions in the upfront and annual mortgage insurance premiums (MIP) it charges for most mortgage insurance categories under the Section 232 mortgage insurance program for residential care facilities where the facilities meet industry-recognized green building certifications and achieve meaningful, measurable energy and water efficiency improvements.

More NGBS Green Certifications Now Recognized in Recent Fannie Mae Update

Earlier this year, Fannie Mae released an updated version of Form 4250, which identifies the green building certifications recognized and approved for its Green Building Certification offering. Once again, NGBS Green certifications for new and renovated multifamily buildings were recognized as options.

Home Innovation Research Labs Begins Preparations for 2024 National Green Building Standard Update

Home Innovation Research Labs, in its capacity as an ANSI-approved standard developer, today announced preparations for the development of the 2024 version of the ICC-700 National Green Building Standard (NGBS) are now officially underway. Home Innovation will again act as the secretariat, or administrator, of the standard development process. Once completed, the updated standard will again be submitted to ANSI for approval.

NGBS Green PRO Launches – First Professional Receives Designation

Earlier this month, Home Innovation Research Labs launched NGBS Green PRO – a professional designation that validates expertise in green, sustainable building design, construction, and certification. Individuals who earn the NGBS Green PRO designation have an advanced understanding of the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) ICC-700 and the NGBS Green certification program.
