Nordic X-Lam Products

Product Information

Nordic X-Lam cross-laminated timber (CLT) is composed of cross-wise glued-laminated spruce-pine-fir and/or black spruce species boards. The result is a building material high in resistance and stiffness that can easily substitute steel or concrete.

      601.2(2) Higher-grade or higher strength of the same material than commonly specified for structual elements are used. 3 Product must be used for structual elements and the specifed size must reflect a size reduction due to the higher strength properties of the product when compared to commonly specified wood products.

      Nordic X-Lam products are higher strength than commonly-used structural products.

      606.1 Biobased products are used. 8 points maximum awarded. 3, 6 To earn 6 points, this product must be at least 1% of the construction material cost AND another bio-based product, also at 1% of material cost, must be used. Lesser points are available at the 0.5% level.

      Nordic X-Lam products are made from trees under Nordic’s stewardship, a natural and renewable resource.

      Nordic X-Lam wood is certified to the requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

      606.3 Materials used for major components are manufactured using a min. of 33% of the primary manufacturing process energy from renewable sources, combustible waste sources, or renewable energy credits (RECs). 2 These products must be used for a major component of the building.

      Hydro-electricity and biomass are used to manufacture the Nordic products, which are renewable energy sources.
