Students taking part in the annual NAHB Residential Construction Symposium will visit Home Innovation Research Labs to get a first-hand glimpse of the building science research, testing, and certification done there. The Symposium, sponsored by the National Housing Endowment (NHE), enables a small group of students from the NHE’s Housing Education Leadership Programs (HELP) Schools to attend a one-week educational program in Washington, D.C., as a way to build the next generation of leaders for the industry. The five-day symposium addresses a range of issues that affect the residential construction industry, including environmental and land development regulations, contracts, construction liability and other legal issues, construction codes, OSHA, and green building. In addition to the half day at Home Innovation Research Labs, students will also enjoy a half-day visit with a local builder focusing on business operations, management issues, and land development concerns.
