Join in on Tuesday, May 7th at 2pm ET for a webinar titled, "Solar and Energy Efficiency: Resources to support local initiatives for low-to-moderate income communities."

Low-to-moderate income (LMI) communities face unique challenges when it comes to accessing energy efficiency solutions and solar energy. However, this is slowly changing as policymakers nationwide are developing policies and programs to increase energy efficiency and solar resources for these communities.

This webinar will serve as an educational resource for local governments interested in better understanding market barriers and expanding solar and energy efficiency deployment in low to moderate income communities. Participants will be able to explore and visualize data developed by the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) focused on how rooftop solar on LMI housing represents an opportunity to help modernize the U.S electric grid and advance energy affordability in low income communities.

NREL and the American Council on an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) will also discuss financing options and incentives for solar development and energy efficiency in LMI communities. ACEEE will introduce its City Clean Energy Scorecard and the organization’s work on low income and multi-family research projects. The speakers will also discuss local-level approaches for combining energy efficiency and solar to benefit LMI households.

Panelists include:

  • Alexandra Aznar | Project Leader at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
  • Jeff Cook | Renewable Energy Policy & Market Analyst at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
  • Stefen Samarripas | Senior Research Analyst, Local Policy at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy
